Neymar Transfer Saga : Brazilian offers himself to Europe’s elite
In a desperate attempt to leave Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar has now offered himself to the elites of European football.
After returning back to Paris a week late for pre-season training, Neymar held talks with sporting director Leonardo, where he communicated his desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain. PSG coach Thomas Tuchel too confirmed that Neymar wants to depart the Parisians and that he was aware of it for more than a month. Neymar seems to be making the right moves to force a move away from PSG by not showing up to training and also taking a sly dig at the club in n interview saying that one of the best moments in his footballing career was when Barca beat PSG 6-1. However, the question remains that where will the wantaway star end up playing next season.
AS reports that Neymar has apparently offered his services to Europe’s elite clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus in order to force a move away from PSG. The Brazilian would prefer a move back to his previous club FC Barcelona, but understands that it would be tricky for the move to happen in the given situation and is keeping his options open.

For Barcelona to sign Neymar, PSG’s asking price is acting as the biggest roadblock. The French champions want to recover the €222 million that they paid for the Brazilian back in 2017 and wont listen to any offer that is below that amount. On the other hand, Barcelona just spent around €200 million on Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong and also had to reportedly take a loan to finance Griezmann’s move. This sheds light on the fact that the Blaugrana may not be in the best position to sign Neymar and even if they do, they might end up breaching the Financial Fair Play rules set by UEFA.
With a move back to Barcelona seeming unlikely, Neymar would be left with a handful of options with clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United among the few that could actually afford the Brazil international. Real Madrid too have spent heavily this summer, strengthening their attack with the additions of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic and as reported earlier, have chosen to concentrate on the file of Kylian Mbappe rather than PSG’s Brazilian superstar.
Juventus do not really have a need for Neymar with Cristiano Ronldo already impressing in Turin and with the club being touted as next season’s Champions League winners already, chances of Juventus stepping up to sign Neymar are very bleak. Manchester United on the other hand seemed to have displayed a change in their transfer policy, looking to invest in youngsters rather than just blindly spending on superstars. However, Pogba’s departure can change a thing for United but the Reds would be more likely to concentrate on bolstering their weak spots in the midfield rather than make another big money signing. Also Neymar won’t feature in the Champions League next season if he joins United, which make a move to the Red Devils less probable for him.
Neymar’s relation with PSG has certainly deteriorated. Will he able to secure a move away from Paris or will he be stuck in the French capital for yet another season?
