This isn’t going to go down well in the Real Madrid camp…

One of the biggest summer signings this year involved Eden Hazard moving from Chelsea to Real Madrid. It came when Real Madrid needed him the most, during their transition from what was an abysmal season. With Zinedine Zidane at the helm and a few new players at the Bernabeu, fans are hopeful for a good season.

However, according to Marca, Marcelo feels like this summer window has more to offer Real Madrid. In fact, he is a keen believer that they would benefit from signing his countryman and former Barcelona star Neymar. Here’s what he had to say on the situation…

"“Eden (Hazard) is a top player. A player of top quality and, like Neymar, has the quality to be in the top five. He’s impressive, you cannot compare them, but Neymar is better for me.” – Marcelo"

More from Real Madrid

This is an interesting stance for Marcelo to take, especially given how quiet Real Madrid has been in this saga recently. They appear to have given Barcelona the license to chase their former star without interruption. However, perhaps Marcelo knows something that outsiders do not.

There are bound to be a few players in the Bernabeu camp that would not welcome Neymar with open arms initially. However, Marcelo has worked successfully with the ex-Barcelona man on international duty, so he is in the best position to judge whether or not he would fit Zinedine Zidane’s system.

Neymar is an immensely skilled player, in fact, he is one of the best in the world at what he does. If you give him a sticky situation, he will find his way out of it with the tricks he has up his sleeve. The Brazilian is so composed with his feet, he could find his way out of a telephone box.

It will be interesting to see how this saga progresses. Will Marcelo’s comments unnerve Eden Hazard, or will they fuel him to prove his worth? Also, will Marcelo’s comments inspire Real Madrid officials to reignite their interest in Neymar?
