After the signings of Thorgan Hazard and Julian Brandt earlier in the summer, Dortmund looks set to strengthen their side even more with Barcelona winger Malcom.
The German giants are currently in advanced talks with Barca for the 22-year-old Brazilian, according to Goal.com. Malcom has been at the Camp Nou for just one season, after moving to Spain last summer from French side Bordeaux. He was set to sign with Roma, only for Barcelona to swoop in last-minute and sign the youngster away from the Italian side.
Dortmund are willing to pay 42 million euros for Malcom, however, he has a 180 million euros termination clause in his current contract. But Barca signed him for 41 million last summer, so they would receive 1 million more from Dortmund, in which case they would allow him to leave for Germany since they are getting more for Malcom than they initially paid last year.

The winger was didn’t see much time on the pitch at Barcelona this past season, appearing in just 15 La Liga fixtures, bagging just one goal. He also scored twice in six Copa Del Rey appearances. With Antoine Griezmann now a Barcelona player as well, there isn’t much place for Malcom at the Camp Nou. He had a tough time finding playing time last season before they even brought the Frenchman over from Atletico Madrid, so now playing time will definitely be limited for the Brazilian.
Arsenal has been linked with Malcom this summer as they seem very keen on his talents, but it’s looking like Dortmund could be the team to sign him over the Gunners. Dortmund and Barca have seemed to build a respectable relationship through the loan of Paco Alcacer to Signal Iduna Park, especially considering the attacking impact he’s had with the black and yellow.
Lucien Favre’s side have already strengthened their attack immensely with Thorgan Hazard and Julian Brandt from fellow German sides Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayern Leverkusen, but it appears he is determined to add even more of a scoring flair with a player like Malcom.
There’s definitely no guarantee he would be a starter with Dortmund, but I do believe he would have the opportunity to prove himself and as a result, see more playing time than he would if he did stay at the Camp Nou. Also considering the fact that Neymar wants a reunion at Barcelona, Malcom would end up even lower in the pecking order for Ernesto Valverde’s side.
A move away from Barcelona seems inevitable at this point and could be the best thing for Malcom’s career.
