Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta has stated that Inter Milan have made a ‘fair and important’ offer for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku…

Romelu Lukaku’s probable move to Inter Milan has been one of the most talked about transfer saga’s of the summer and it seems to be taking Inter Milan ad Manchester United forever to reach an agreement for the Belgian forward. Antonio Conte has been an admirer of Lukaku and believes that the Belgian will be one an important signing for Inter Milan.

More from Manchester United

Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi seems to be out of favor at the club and the Nerazzurri are looking to sell him with Lukaku coming in to replace the Argentine forward. Inter Milan however seem to be falling short of United’s €85 million valuation of Lukau by around €15 million as they need to tread carefully having just come out of sanctions laid on them by UEFA for breaching Financial Fairplay Regulations.

In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, Inter Milan’s CEO Giuseppe “Beppe” Marotta had the following to say about the clubs transfer situation:

"“The club is strong, but we need to stay within certain parameters. The club has made big investments and we believe that we’re already at a good stage in the process.”"

Marotta, in the interview with Sky Sport Italia, was specifically asked about Manchester United’s €85 million asking price for Romelu Lukau, to which the Italian responded saying :

"“These days it is clear that the demands for players [from clubs] are really high in some cases, as for Lukaku. We have made an offer [that was] fair and important, respecting the player’s value. We will monitor the situation, but I don’t feel I want to lose balance.”“The transfer window is long this year. Operations are not rushed, as they have been in past years. We are careful to assess opportunities based on financial and economic capacities. We must, however, respect the parameters of Financial Fair Play. But we must seize opportunities. We are confident.”"

Juventus have also reportedly approached Manchester United for Lukaku and have offered Paulo Dybala as a part of the deal for the Belgian forward, in an attempt to hijack Inter Milan’s move for Lukaku, per Sky Sports. On the other hand, the Red Devils are looking at Olympique Lyon’s Moussa Dembele and Lille’s Nicolas Pepe as a possible replacement for Lukaku.

However, it’s yet to be seen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will consider Juventus’ offer because with just two weeks left for the English Premier League to start, United won’t be left with much time to negotiate with Lyon or Lille in order to land any of their players and a deal with Juventus would see Dybala, a potential replacement, move to the Old Trafford, where the Argentine can link up with Marcus Rashford upfront.

It is a race against time for Manchester United and Inter Milan. Do you think United will reach an agreement with Inter or will they choose to agree to Juventus’ offer for Lukaku?
