Barcelona fear they won’t be able to sell Philippe Coutinho

A move away may be what’s best for the Brazil international but will Barcelona be able to persuade other clubs to sign him in time?

Barcelona are undergoing a successful transfer window. They brought in one of the best and most promising players in the world, Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid. They also signed Frenkie de Jong from Ajax to bolster their midfield options.

This leaves much concern for Philippe Coutinho, who struggles to get consistent game time under Ernesto Valverde anyway. The Brazilian’s agent mustn’t be very happy either since he always wants what’s best for his client.

This is why it comes as no surprise to see Coutinho seeking a move away. According to ESPN, though, Barcelona fear they are not receiving any offers for the attacker. Although, they also report that the club are in the same boat as the player, since they also wish to part ways.

Potential suitors for Coutinho include Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain or perhaps a wildcard in Manchester United. However, Jurgen Klopp recently revealed that he does not want to bring Coutinho back to Anfield, even on loan.

The most sensible destination for Coutinho would be to Paris. The PSG board has revealed their desire to sign the Brazilian. With Neymar rumoured to be of interest from Barcelona, it would make sense for the Spanish side to include Coutinho as part of a potential swap deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

Coutinho is a very attacking midfielder who thrives in the final third. A large emphasis of his playstyle revolves around his dictation of play. He is able to play short, one-touch passes while also having the ability to spot and execute incisive through balls. It’s an added bonus that he can take shots from wide and is an avid free-kick taker.

Barcelona wouldn’t want to lose a player of Coutinho’s calibre. However, given the circumstances, it is best to sell him. Besides, his departure would add extra funds to the transfer kitty, in the hopes they can pull off one more wonder transfer.
