Acquire Mauro Icardi

For most of the summer I have been against Juventus making this move, but now they  have officially sold Moise Kean to Everton and are discussing the possibility of Mario Mandzukic heading to Manchester United, this move is starting to make a lot more sense.

Icardi comes with a lot of baggage attached, but he also comes with a massively diminished price tag. Inter Milan has just about no control over the price of Icardi ever since they publicly announced that they have no plans to keep him. Now he represents the only striker Juve could sign that might make fans feel somewhat okay with the sale of Moise Kean.

The other striker Juve is reportedly interested in, Romelu Lukaku, is an awful fit for a Maurizio Sarri managed attack and would really just be a waste of the sacrifices Juventus has made to bring in a striker. On the other hand, Icardi’s skillset would fit very well at Juventus and he wouldn’t present the same issues at Juve that he did at Inter.

He’ll never be Juve’s captain, which means they’ll never have to deal with a debacle like we saw at Inter last year. This is also as good as it would ever get for icardi. There is no team he could go to where he would ever be in a better situation with a better chance to win, especially if his wife wants them to stay in Italy past the birth of their child.

There is also the spite angle to this transfer. Juventus and their fans would love nothing more than to benefit at the expense of Inter Milan. Icardi has been Inter’s best player just about since he joined, so it would sting just that little bit more for Inter to watch him succeed at Juve.

Icardi is a proven commodity in Serie A, having already won the Capocannoniere title twice in his young career. He also looked pretty good in the Champions League for as long as Inter was in the tournament last season. There would be absolutely no question about what he could provide Juve on the field if he were to join the club. With Kean already being shipped off and Lukaku’s abysmal first touch as the only alternative, Icardi looks like the only option for Juventus.
