Tottenham may not be able to pry Paulo Dybala away from Juventus, but he would prove to be a game changing purchase for Spurs.

Spurs social media has been lit ablaze with rumours about a sensational move for Paulo Dybala. Tottenham fans should exercise caution when thinking about the chances of a successful swoop, but if it were to happen, it would drastically change the club’s outlook for this season.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham and Juventus have agreed to a £70 million transfer fee for the talented attacker. Dybala and his representatives have yet to agree to contract terms with Spurs at the moment. It’s unclear exactly what sort of wage packet he’s looking for. It’s safe to assume he would immediately become the highest earner in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Admittedly, it’s difficult to envision this move actually coming off. In this piece, we’ll suspend our disbelief and talk about what such a massive transaction would mean for Tottenham.

Simply put, it would quiet any question about Daniel Levy and his ownership group’s commitment to Pochettino. The club have already broken their transfer record once this summer to bring Tanguy Ndombele to North London. Doing so a second time, for one of the most recognizable attackers on the planet, would send an unquestioned signal of intent. Spurs fans would no longer be able to credibly questioned ENIC’s commitment to winning on the pitch.

Speaking of on the pitch, inserting Dybala into the Tottenham starting XI would make Pochettino’s attack one of the dangerous units in all of Europe. Even if, as expected, Christian Eriksen leaves the club before the transfer deadline, the addition of Dybala would add much-needed goal scoring diversity to the team’s attack. Opponents would have a nightmare of a time defending a front three of Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Dybala. That doesn’t even begin to account for the likes of Dele Alli contributing goals from the midfield.

Make no mistake about it, Dybala is a world-class attacker who can elevate Tottenham to an entirely different level on the pitch. He can’t single-handedly turn Spurs into Premier League title contenders, but he is the perfect addition to help Kane and company achieve that goal. It’s hard to imagine a better addition to Pochettino’s attack than a prolific attacker capable of scoring goals from so many different positions.

Next. What should Tottenham do with Christian Eriksen?. dark

At the moment, all Tottenham fans can do is sit back and dream about the possibility of Dybala arriving in North London. If that happens, Spurs will instantly become a nightmare for Manchester City, Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League.
