Maurizio Sarri

Massimiliano Allegri had an undeniably successful tenure as the manager of Juventus and should absolutely be commended for the job he did. It’s pretty difficult to find reasons to complain about a manager who won the Scudetto every season with Juve and delivered 4 domestic doubles (although I certainly found reasons to complain over the last couple of years).

Even with all of that success, moving on from Allegri was absolutely the right move, as Juve has stagnated over the last couple of years and as close as he got to bringing home a Champions League, he didn’t appear to be the manager to finally deliver the trophy Juventus fans are waiting for.

Last season Juventus played a style that was tough to watch at times and completely lacked creativity in the attacking half. Juventus will absolutely not have that problem now that they have replaced Allegri with Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri’s style of play will open up a whole new world of possibilities for Juve. The game will open up for them and it should bring out the best of Douglas Costa and Cristiano Ronaldo. This new, exciting Juve should be able to run up the score on a lot of teams in Serie A and should be able to put teams away in matches where they are superior and build up a nice goal differential.

The modern game is all about scoring. A few years ago, Juve’s world class defense was plenty to win Scudetti when complemented by a serviceable attack. Now you need to have a team capable of scoring 3 or 4 goals in big matches if you want to be able to stay at the top of your league or reach the top of Europe. Maurizio Sarri could very well be the manager who brings that out of Juventus.
