Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t one to hold back when it comes to praising himself…

Cristiano Ronaldo has had a career like no other. He started his journey in Portugal with Sporting, before being picked up by Manchester United. It was under Sir Alex Ferguson that the world heard of his name and he soon went on to become one of the world’s best. Several years down the line, he broke the transfer record by signing for Real Madrid and he continued his success.

Now playing for Juventus, the Portugal international has had plenty of time to reflect. He has seen football adapt since he was young and being at the top of the ladder, it is sometimes hard to notice what is going on below you.

Football is very much a game revolving around money nowadays. With inflation more prominent than ever, it’s easy to ponder upon how much legends would be worth in today’s game. Well, Ronaldo’s worth is €88m, according to Transfermarkt. However, he feels like a younger version of himself would be worth a lot more in today’s world.

According to Fox Sports, Ronaldo believes that if he were 25 years old, he could be worth up to €300m given inflation over the last decade. This is a bold claim but nobody can deny his stance.

Ronaldo is undeniably one of the greatest players in history. This is shown in his Ballon d’Or record; he has won five of them, only matched throughout history by Lionel Messi.

He is consistently featured among the forwards of the World XI and rightly so. He has the ability to pop up in areas of space while also having plenty of skill up his sleeve. He has shown that he is a fearsome goal scorer, scoring all kinds varying from bicycle kicks to headers. He really is the most complete player in the world.

Much of Ronaldo’s success has been down to his hard work. Where Messi is naturally gifted, Ronaldo has had to work hard to hone his craft in four different countries. There is still life left in the tank too, with shouts that he should retire in the American MLS ranks.
