Why Real Madrid shouldn’t even consider loaning Luka Jovic to AC Milan
By Quinn Allen
Rumors have surfaced from Gazzetta Sport in Italy that AC Milan is keen on a loan move for Luka Jovic, the Serbian striker who joined Real Madrid this summer from Eintracht Frankfurt. Here is why Madrid should be keeping him.
Although Luka Jovic has just arrived at the Bernabeu this summer, there are already talks swirling that he could possibly leave the club on loan before the transfer window shuts on September 2nd. But in a recent interview with Novosti, Jovic laughed at these rumors and made it very clear that he is 100 percent committed to proving himself and learning from Zinedine Zidane.
"“He believes in me and his story has not changed during this time as we cooperate. I am learning from him day by day, which I am very pleased with, because he, as a player and as a coach, is at the very top of world football.”“They always make me laugh like that. The media will always deal with such stories. I have been used to all kinds of comments since the beginning of my senior career, I have come to terms with the fact that there can always be. Time will tell what is true.”More from Real MadridReal Madrid dealt Eder Militao injury blowJude Bellingham scores in Real Madrid debutReal Madrid facing uncertainty heading into new LaLiga seasonReal Madrid suffer Thibaut Courtois injury blowJoselu, the story behind the kid who dreamt of playing for Real Madrid"
Jovic appears to be behind Karim Benzema in the pecking order at striker right now, coming on as a substitute in the last ten minutes of Madrid’s 3-1 victory in their season opener against Celta Vigo. Benzema was one of the only bright spots in their disappointing campaign last year, bagging 30 goals.
But in Jovic, you’re looking at a versatile striker who scored 25 goals in just 40 appearances for Frankfurt last year. He has all the abilities to compete with Benzema for the starting spot up front and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that Real Madrid should even be thinking about loaning off the 21-year old who became the most expensive Serbian player in history when he signed with Madrid.
He will find his form
I’m sure Real Madrid fans were expecting a lot more from Jovic from the get-go considering his impressive resume in his senior career, but there is no doubt he will find his scoring touch. The Serbian international became one of deadliest strikers in the world last year, scoring from all over, whether it was with his left or right foot, or his head.
I know he is with arguably the biggest club in the world now, but that doesn’t change the fact that he has a special ability to find the back of the net at any given moment. Playing time might be scarce with Benzema ahead of him, but if Jovic can make the most of the minutes he does get, I do believe the youngster can break through and start ahead of the Frenchman.
What Jovic said in that interview with Novosti about learning from Zidane every day is also very true. Zidane was a top player and a very good coach and Jovic is definitely learning a lot from him in order to make him that much better. With Jovic’s work ethic and desire to be better, there is no doubt in my mind that he will see more playing time sooner rather than later with Madrid.
If you take into account the type of players that Jovic is surrounded with as well on the attack, like Eden Hazard and Luka Modric, they will make him that much better as well especially when he can make the correct runs in behind.
Last year was no fluke for Luka Jovic. He is a lethal goalscorer who will find his form very soon in Madrid.
