Overall: B

Everything seemed so positive in July. Juve had made the big signing every fan was hoping for when hey brought in de Ligt. The Ramsey and Rabiot signings seemed like they were just bonuses in a successful summer at that point and bringing in Romero and Demiral really helped allay some fears from last season. Then Juve went and dragged this summer down with repeated questionable moves in August.

More from Serie A

The Kean and Cancelo moves were absolutely disastrous and Luca Pellegrini’s loan will really limit Juve’s depth at full-back this season. Juve also seriously mishandled their overcrowding issues when they were unable to sell Higuain, Dybala, or Daniele Rugani. The fact that they seemingly have no interest in selling Sami Khedira is absolutely baffling to me.

At this point, Juventus is only getting a B because their center back signings were perfect and their midfield signings fixed another huge problem from last season.

Juve could absolutely prove me wrong this season. If they win the Champions League then nothing else will really matter anymore, but if they fall short of that and even worse, if their Scudetto run also comes to an end, then Juve is going to have a lot of angry fans to deal with.

I think they’ll actually end up somewhere between there. They’ll win another Scudetto, but once again fall short of the Champions League and they’ll end up having sacrificed young talent for nothing. I hope that isn’t where this season ends up and they come to their senses about Khedira before the transfer window closes, but I guess we’ll start getting some answers this weekend.
