2. Hirving Lozano provides reinforcement to Napoli’s attack

As if the trio of Insigne, Mertens, and Milik wasn’t enough for opposing defenses, ESPN FC also reports that Napoli finalized a $46 million deal with PSV Eindhoven for Hirving Lozano. Lozano, who is a natural winger, adds another dimension to Napoli’s attack. The 24-year-old Mexican national player is an intriguing prospect who has the potential to be a top player in Serie A.

Lozano comes to Serie A with an impressive goal scoring record. He scored 17 goals in each of the last two league seasons with PSV Eindhoven. He also recorded two goals in the Champions League group stages last year.

On top of that, Lozano had eight assists in each season. Lozano’s presence as a scorer and playmaker means that Napoli should score more than the 74 goals it had last season.

Most importantly, Lozano will take pressure off of Insigne, Mertens, and Milik. Last season, Napoli’s top three forwards did not finish the season well because each played over 40 total games.

All three simply could not miss many Serie A, Champions League, and Europa League matches. With Lozano in the fold, manager Carlo Ancelotti can balance playing time so that his attackers stay fresh and remain at their best all season long.

Napoli may also add another forward before the summer transfer window closes next week. Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Napoli continue to focus on Mauro Icardi or Fernando Llorente. A deal for Icardi will make Napoli the favorites to win the title chase, while a move for Llorente will provide the squad with some added depth.
