4. Napoli has the deepest midfield in Serie A

Napoli’s attack is great and its defense is formidable, but its midfielders might make up the best position group. Fabián Ruiz and Piotr Zieliński combined to play in 50 Serie A games last season, and they quickly emerged as young stars.

Ruiz even continued his successful season when he won the Golden Player for Spain at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Both Ruiz and Zieliński now return as two of the best midfielders in Serie A.

Ruiz appears to be the more offensive-minded of the two. He is comfortable in a role where he can play short passes into the forwards or attempt long shots on goal. Ruiz has the potential to become a world-class midfielder for the next decade.

Zieliński has more experience than Ruiz. This year marks his fourth for Napoli and his eighth in Serie A. He is a well-rounded player who can play position in the midfield. Zieliński has the ability to take and maintain possession against any opposing midfielders.

Joining Zieliński and Ruiz in the midfield is Allan. He is an incredibly balanced player who has been one of the top midfielders in Serie A since he joined Napoli in 2015. Allan fits best as a defensive midfielder who can play a little behind Ruiz and Zieliński.

Napoli also added Elif Elmas from Fenerbahçe this summer for $18 million, according to Goal.com. Elmas, who is only 19 years old, promises to be a great young player. Napoli has had successful turning young midfielders into stars–Ruiz and Jorginho come to mind–so Elmas is on the right path.
