Barcelona’s fan favourite prevents Neymar from joining Real Madrid

Now it’s clear to see why the Barcelona fans love him…

Barcelona are entering their final few days of the transfer window and things are beginning to heat up more than ever. The main story they have been involved in is the whole speculation surrounding Neymar and whether he will remain a Paris Saint-Germain player or re-join his former club.

There have been many complications along the way for Barcelona, hence they have still not re-signed him. The main complication comes in the shape of Real Madrid, who are also thought to be interested in signing Neymar.

However, according to Fox Sports, Gerard Pique has been on hand to help resolve this obstacle. The Spaniard has reportedly revealed that he’s been in discussion with Neymar and that he knows the club are working “very hard” to get him.

Pique and Neymar shared many moments during their time together with Barcelona, not least winning the most prestigious Champions League trophy together. He of all people will know what the Brazilian can bring to the table.

Neymar is one of the best players in the world, Barca fans need no reassurance of this. He is an excellent dribbler of the ball and he is also an elite talisman. Alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, he formed one of the most fearsome attacks of all time and I have no doubt he can play into Antoine Griezmann‘s style.

Things have not gone to plan for Neymar in Paris. He left in the hopes that his arrival would spark a Champions League pursuit for PSG, however, it has been quite the opposite tale. He was involved in a falling out with Edinson Cavani early on and now he is not the most popular figure behind the scenes at the Parc des Princes. That said, PSG may be open to Barcelona offers.

Given his love for Barcelona and hatred for Real Madrid, there is nothing Pique would despise more than seeing his old teammate sign for Los Blancos. He is not willing to disclose what the conversation involved but I can only imagine this was a topic of discussion.
