LW: Cristiano Ronaldo 8/10

Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t make fans wait quite as long for his first goal this season. After struggling to finish a few good chances against Parma last week, he made sure to finish the first chance he got against Napoli. Even though he was overshadowed by the two players who lined up alongside him, he was still a threat in this match and his goal ended up being a major necessity for Juve. His performance in this match wasn’t the best of his Juventus career, but he played a big part in this win.

ST: Gonzalo Higuain 9/10

I wrote an article 2 months ago about why Juventus should keep Gonzalo Higuain this season and against Napoli he put on a display that should convince a lot of fans that he is the right choice for Juve at striker right now. He was incredible against Napoli. His fantastic goal once again gave us a glimpse of the Higuain that scored 36 goals a few season ago for Napoli. The move was beautiful and the finish was absolutely perfect. He also should have had an assist in this match, but Khedira failed to finish after his phenomenal pass. He also kept up his work rate in this match, which has been a nice new wrinkle to his game this year. Through two matches I’ve yet to see any reason why Higuain shouldn’t start regularly for Juventus this season.

RW: Douglas Costa 9.5/10

Douglas Costa was once again phenomenal in the second match of his new life in Maurizio Sarri’s world. There is nothing that this guy doesn’t do with this year’s version of Juve. He made a fantastic run on the counterattack to set up Danilo’s opening goal, made a beautiful pass to Cristiano Ronaldo for the match’s 3rd goal and nearly scored one of his own, but Alex Meret made a great save. He has been a completely different player this year under Sarri and should be given a big chunk of the credit for why Juve was able to leave this match with a win. Costa is the most exciting player to watch right now for Juve and deserves the Man of the Match for his performance against Napoli.
