Juventus could end up snatching one of Real Madrid’s most promising young defenders by the transfer deadline on Monday midnight.

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Odriozola has been one of the club’s younger signings from last summer’s transfer window. The former Real Sociedad defender has been getting call-ups regularly from the national Spanish side, but Zinedine Zidane does not seem to have been impressed by him six months into his second tenure at the club.

Dani Carvajal and as such, even Eder Militao who is a central defender primarily are both thought to be ahead of Odriozola in the pecking order and the Merengues would be completely okay with letting go of the 23 year old full back if a reasonable offer comes calling. Fox Sports has reported that Juventus are interested in signing him.

Joao Cancelo left the Allianz Stadium for the Etihad Stadium this summer and while Danilo joined Juventus as part of the deal, Maurizio Sarri is still unconvinced with his options and probably Mattia de Sciglio is particular. That said, he has asked the Old Lady of Turin to try and purchase Odriozola by the end of this transfer window.

Serie A’s reigning champions have a race against time but with over 24 hours of the transfer window still left, anything is possible and by looking at the history of a few deadline days, Juventus must not rule themselves out in the hunt for Odriozola. However, letting him go would be a massive loss for Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane’s fringe players are mostly young and will form an integral part of the squad in the next four or five years. Alvaro Odriozola is among those who will be one of the club’s most crucial players down the line. But Zidane is a short-term thinker looking at his historic transfers, so it would not be a surprise if he trusts Lucas Vazquez to back Dani Carvajal up.

Do you think Real Madrid will let go of Alvaro Odriozola if Zinedine Zidane doesn’t need him?
