Liverpool: Mohamed Salah is everything Eden Hazard isn’t

The Egyptian’s only critic was everything the Belgian lacked…
Liverpool really did hit the nail on the head when they signed Mohamed Salah. The former Chelsea man came to the Premier League with a point to prove and boy did he prove that point.
In his first season with Liverpool, he was their top goal scorer and also the player of the season. He scored some terrific goals which gained Liverpool a place in the Champions League final, a final which they, unfortunately, went on to lose.
However, the season which followed will be the one which is most remembered. The dubbed ‘Egyptian king’ won his first ever Champions League honour, playing a large part in helping Liverpool to their sixth. The trophy drought was broken, and it was largely thanks to Salah.

Salah has plenty of strengths to his game, including his flair on the ball and his pace. While his ability to be Liverpool’s talisman is what is recognised most, there is an undertone of footballing intelligence and spatial awareness which makes this all possible.
However, he does have a rather large critique. This is that sometimes he can be selfish in a sense of not giving his teammates in space the time of day. This has recently been called out by Sadio Mane and is, therefore, the topic of discussion surrounding Liverpool.
However, as is often the case with English football, this is completely contradictory. If you cast your minds back to when Eden Hazard was the top dog in the Premier League, he also had one main downfall.
This main downfall was the opposite to that of Mohamed Salah’s. If anything, the Belgian was criticised for not being selfish enough. See, the making of a great player is one which has the confidence to take the game by the scruff of the neck, even if this entails leaving teammates behind.
Now that Hazard is in another league, perhaps this will persuade him to take on board the criticism he was given in England. However, he mustn’t dwell on it too much because as seen, it’s never easy to keep up with the unrealistic expectations of English football fans.
