The Manchester United fans will have something to cling on to…

The Premier League is well underway now, with each team having played their opening five games. Teams who finished in the top four last season have also witnessed their first taste of Champions League football this season. Manchester United and Arsenal, however, will kick off their Europa League campaign tonight.

Manchester United have had a mixed start to life in the Premier League this season. They have been inconsistent to say the least, however, they have been helped by the teams around them slipping up. They currently sit in the fourth position.

They had a busy summer window and their new signings are settling in well. Particularly Daniel James, who has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s standout player in the opening fixtures. Now that the transfer window is a thing of the past, the board at Old Trafford have other priorities.

More from Manchester United

According to Standard, Manchester United are set to step up their contract negotiations. Their main priority is going to be Paul Pogba, whom the board are hoping to convince to sign a new deal. His current deal expires in 2021, with the option to extend for a further year.

Pogba had a bad start to the season, however, this was not down to his performances. In fact, he was United’s best player when they humiliated Chelsea on opening day, providing two assists. Things soon took a turn for the worse when he missed a penalty against Wolves, which set the trolls up with an excuse to abuse him unnecessarily on social media.

Anyway, Pogba has a bright future ahead of him should he play his cards right. He is thought to desire a move to Real Madrid where he would work under Zinedine Zidane. This would definitely be a better option than remaining with Manchester United so only time will tell if he manages to land this move.

I mean, Real Madrid need all the help they can get after being hammered by Paris Saint-Germain last night…

Do you think Paul Pogba will sign a new contract with Manchester United or move away from the club?
