LB: Alex Sandro 7/10

This was a better all-around match for Alex Sandro than what we saw out of him during the week. He got himself involved in the attack and did a nice job trying to create with his passing. He was strong on the left side of the defense and didn’t allow Verona nearly as much space as he allowed Atletico. Hopefully Sandro is starting to turn a corner because he is one of the few players at Juve right now who is guaranteed a starting spot in every match.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci 7/10

Leonardo Bonucci continues to impress in the absence of Giorgio Chiellini. He has really stepped up and become a leader for this back line at the perfect time. He once again stood tall in the middle of the defense while adjusting to playing with his 3rd defensive partner of the year. He has earned himself a day off this week and hopefully he’ll get it because Juve can’t afford for fatigue to become an issue for Bonucci right now.

CB: Merih Demiral 5/10

It looks like center backs are cursed in their debuts for Juventus this year. De Ligt had his awful second half against Napoli and now Merih Demiral gave up a penalty in his debut against Verona. That penalty didn’t end up being Verona’s goal in the match, but it did start the sequence that led to the goal. Demiral was adequate the rest of the match, but you can tell that he still needs to settle in with his new club. His performance wasn’t particularly good, but it also isn’t anything to worry about and I expect him to be better when he gets his second start.

RB: Danilo 6.5/10

I remain unimpressed by Danilo overall, but this match looked to be a step in the right direction. He played well on the defensive end, but he continues to be a complete non-factor in the attack for Juve. He needs to be more of a factor in the attack, especially in a match like this where Juve struggled to create chances. At least, he didn’t give Verona acres of space on the wing like he did against Atletico.
