This would bring back plenty of nostalgia for Barcelona fans…
After retiring from his playing career not long ago, Barcelona legend Xavi soon took to management. He spent almost two decades bossing the midfield at the Nou Camp, parting ways to join Al Sadd in 2015. It was only this year that Xavi was unveiled as boss of the Qatari side but he has bigger things on his mind.
Given Barcelona’s current situation, Xavi was asked by Spanish press whether he would ever return in a coaching role. His answer was. according to Ara, that it would not be a problem for him to manage his former teammates, the likes of Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique, whom he endured great success alongside.
La Liga is quite a big step up from the Qatar Stars League; Xavi of all people will be aware of this. However, given the vast amount of experience in Spain the manager has, it would not be a problem for him to take this role.

We saw Zinedine Zidane jump into his first managerial role at Real Madrid Castilla, only managing there for a short time before joining the first team. He then went on to win three back-to-back Champions League honours in his first three seasons, so the plunge can definitely work.
Xavi is a hall of famer at Barcelona, that’s for sure. He can go down as one of, if not THE best midfielder to play for the club. His flair and aplomb on the ball marked Spain’s golden generation and set the standards which young Spaniards are struggling to reach.
Should he return to manage in Spain, then we could soon see this golden generation of midfielders revitalised. It’s what Barcelona needs more than ever at this time since the future is growing dimmer and dimmer by the month.
Xavi will be cautious that he has a big reputation at Barcelona and the fans adore him dearly. The last thing he would want is to jeopardise this legacy. That said, he needs to be confident in all of his heart that he can take over from Ernesto Valverde if he is to be offered the role.
Do you think Xavi is the right man to replace Ernesto Valverde at Barcelona?
