Real Madrid could be big spenders yet again…
The transfer record for Real Madrid is currently held by Gareth Bale. When the Welshman arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013, Los Blancos forked out a massive £90m for him. Since then, it can be debated whether or not he has lived up to his price tag but one thing’s for sure, Zinedine Zidane and company will be looking to break it.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, the Real Madrid board have already located a future transfer target. The Spanish outlet reports they are monitoring Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, who remains one of the most promising young players in the world.
It’s clear to see why Real Madrid are so keen on Sterling. Having played under Pep Guardiola for a few seasons now, he has blossomed into a fine player. There are still areas of his game to improve but he has been one of City’s most important players during the best spell of their history.

He is a fast player who likes attacking with the ball at his feet. His decision making and end product have been called into question but the number of chances he creates for himself does make amends for these flaws.
Real Madrid are going through a mixture of emotions to kick off the league campaign. They find themselves in third place in La Liga, although they have the chance to move up to second or even first when they play their sixth game. However, they do sit bottom of their Champions League table after losing to Paris Saint-Germain on opening night.
That said, Zidane is not one to rest on his laurels. While questions surrounding his future come into fruition, he will keep his head on managing Real Madrid. His plan to bring in Sterling shows that he has Madrid’s best interest at heart since the Englishman could easily be a Ballon d’Or winner in the future.
