CAM: Aaron Ramsey 7/10

In this match, Aaron Ramsey gave Juventus another glimpse at just what their midfield could be. He picked up right where he left off against Verona, making dangerous runs and providing a connection between the midfield and the attack. He was one of Juve’s best players in the first half and continued to play well right up until he was subbed off. I have hopes for Ramsey, but Juve needs to keep his minutes in check to keep him healthy. That means he should be given the day off on Saturday to make sure he’s ready for next week’s match against Leverkusen.

ST: Gonzalo Higuain 6.5/10

This match really slowed down the momentum Higuain had started the season with. He was still able to create issues for Brescia’s defense with his movement, but that didn’t end up meaning much because he squandered every chance he got. Higuain probably should have scored a couple of goals in this match, but got stopped once by Brescia’s keeper and whiffed on another chance. He is still the better fit for Juve’s regular starting lineup and formation, but if he keeps performing like this then he could be passed by Dybala for the starting striker job.

ST: Paulo Dybala 8/10

It’s amazing what a difference it makes when Paulo Dybala gets to play his position. For over a year now, Dybala has been playing out of position, but has looked great when Juve pairs him with another striker. With a ton of space to operate in because of Ronaldo’s absence, Dybala was able to make his impact felt all over the field. He as able to drop in behind Higuain and work alongside Ramsey and play as a creator or alongside Higuain, looking for scoring opportunities. He passed well in the match and his movement caused problems for Brescia. In fact, it was his run that set up the corner and his delivery from that corner that led to Juve’s first goal of the match. Dybala was impressive once again in this situation and I wish there was a way for him to be put in a spot where he can succeed consistently.
