2. Strip Hugo Lloris of his captaincy

Lloris is essentially Tottenham’s captain by default at the moment. When Pochettino first bestowed the honour to the French keeper he was the only established senior player who wasn’t engaged in open revolt against him. Times have clearly changed since then.

As such, the club’s captaincy should change as well. Lloris is not the sort of passionate, vocal leader who can help Pochettino turn the club around. The fact that he isn’t an out field player also makes him a poor choice to wear the arm band.

Instead, Pochettino needs to name Kane as his captain moving forward. He’s the heart beat of the squad already and should be acknowledged as such publicly. It’s also a clever move to make sure that Kane doesn’t think about leaving Spurs anytime soon.

Lloris should be thanked for his contributions to Spurs over the years, but it’s time for him to cede his position of power to the next generation. This doesn’t mean it’s time for Paulo Gazzaniga to take his place on the pitch, just that Lloris isn’t the sort of leader Tottenham need if they want to win prestigious trophies.
