Predicted Juventus lineup vs SPAL: Sarri gets creative to overcome injuries
By John Vaccaro
LM: Federico Bernardeschi
This just might be the last chance for Federico Bernardeschi to truly prove himself at Juventus. Maurizio Sarri said recently that he doesn’t think Bernardeschi is actually a wing, but is instead a midfielder. Then he utilized a formation that contained a trequartista in the next match, and still didn’t start Bernardeschi. Instead, Sami Khedira got another unexplainable start. Now Juve looks like they could be without Ronaldo once again and will have to field a 3-5-2 because they don’t have fullbacks. It’s the perfect opportunity for Bernardeschi to play on the left side of the midfield and show Sarri what he can provide when playing out wide. If he plays well in this match then it could just be enough to make Sarri realize that he is better option on the right wing than Juan Cuadrado. If he doesn’t look good here, then it could be a very long year for Bernardeschi.
RM: Juan Cuadrado
I haven’t exactly been thrilled about Juan Cuadrado’s inclusion in the last few weeks, but he has done a pretty good job of proving me wrong in his last few matches. He scored that ridiculous goal against Atletico and he played surprisingly well on the defensive end as a substitute against Brescia. In this match we’ll get to see Cuadrado in the role Juventus originally added him for. We’ll see him on the right side of Juve’s midfield. Hopefully, he’ll be able to provide the width that Juve’s attack was clearly missing against Brescia. He’s been a pleasant surprise so far for Juventus and they’ll hope that continues as they find solutions to their injury issues.
