It’s been a long time coming but Barcelona could finally budge on their stance…
If you cast your minds back to the summer transfer window, you’ll remember that Paul Pogba was a big topic of discussion. Well, obviously. When isn’t he? Anyway, he was thought to be securing a move to La Liga, either to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Real Madrid seemed to be favourites throughout the way but Barcelona were always an option. Now, reports suggest that it’s the Catalan club that are leading the chase.
According to Diario Gol, there could be an agreement reached of a swap deal involving Manchester United and Barcelona. The English club wants Ousmane Dembele plus €50m for Paul Pogba. Barcelona are yet to agree on the cash side of things, but they are open to a move which sees Dembele and Pogba swap clubs.
The deal would benefit all parties involved

No matter the fee spent, one thing is for certain – a swap deal would make sense for every party. Barcelona would be using someone on the cusp of the first team to bring in a guaranteed starter and arguably a world-class midfielder.
Manchester United would be adding to their attacking options, a position which has proven costly to them amongst all their injuries. They will also be relieving the problem of Pogba running down his contract so that he won’t leave for free.
Paul Pogba would be leaving all of the abuse from fans behind and will begin to play at the highest calibre of football. If he is serious about becoming the world’s best midfielder in his peak then he needs to be playing and competing in the Champions League regularly. Barcelona can guarantee that.
Ousmane Dembele would find it hard leaving Barcelona since this is the club which he wants to succeed at. However, he is guaranteed to be the first name on the team sheet at Manchester United and if he is to succeed in the Premier League, then he is bound to be starting for France also.
Do you think a swap deal involving Manchester United and Barcelona will go ahead in January?
