Emre Can 6/10

Emre Can replaced Sami Khedira in this match and his performance reminded me of Khedira. That’s not a good thing. Can really had no impact on the match in his 30 minutes and didn’t do anything to convince Juventus he should be getting playing time more regularly.

Federico Bernardeschi 6.5/10

Federico Bernardeschi gave Ramsey his customary rest for the last 30 minutes of the match and

looked good while he was on the field. He kept SPAL’s defense on their heels in the trequartista role and Juve fans should feel very comfortable knowing that he is available to back up Ramsey. I think the fact that Bernardeschi comes on for Ramsey really hurts the perception of his performances. He doesn’t have the impact that Ramsey does, but he is always a positive for Juve. That was the case in this match.

Rodrigo Bentancur 6/10

Much like Can, Bentancur wasn’t really able to accomplish much once he was on the field. His defensive contribution was enough to help out a bit as Juve protected their lead, but overall this was really just a 20 minute cameo for Bentancur as he tries to carve out a role for himself.

Manager: Maurizio Sarri 8.5/10

Maurizio Sarri has been dealt injury after injury this year, but he continues to put out winning lineups for Juve. I’m still not thrilled with the inclusion of Sami Khedira in the starting lineup, but everything else Sarri did was great. He has found a new formation that looks like it could really work out well for Juve throughout this season. Blaise Matuidi was a nice stopgap at left back while Alex Sandro mourns the loss of his father. Juve also looked more like a Sarri managed team in this match than they have at any other point in the season. Sarri is clearly becoming more and more familiar with this squad and it shows as this team grows in every match.
