CM: Sami Khedira 7/10

This was actually a better performances than usual from Sami Khedira. It’s not because he was actually able to provide anything for the attack, but because he actually made a few nice tackles over the course of the match. Juve would still be much better served starting somebody that can actually be an asset to the attack, but at least Khedira was able to help Juve keep the clean sheet in this match.

CM: Miralem Pjanic 7/10

This was an uncharacteristically sloppy match from Miralem Pjanic. The whole squad seemed to struggle with their passing accuracy in the first half, but it was particularly noticeable for Pjanic who is usually so sharp with his passes. He made a few dangerous passes that redeemed his performance a bit and he was solid on the defensive end, but the lasting image for this match will be his wastefulness. He was able to get away with it in this match because of Gonzalo Higuain’s brilliance and the skill gap between Juve and Leverkusen, but he’ll need to be sharper against a strong Inter squad on Sunday.

CM: Blaise Matuidi 6/10

Blaise Matuidi to be holding off Adrien Rabiot for this starting job, but may have just renewed Rabiot’s hope to overtake him. Matuidi was quite poor in this match, misplacing many of his passes in the match and making it very difficult for Juve to maintain possession. He showed once again in this match that he is the wrong fit for this squad. It’ll be interesting to see if he gets the start against Inter after this performance.
