Real Madrid will continue the revamp of their squad in January and have handed some more millions to Zinedine Zidane to do so.
Real Madrid spent over 300 million euros in the summer as they signed Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy and Luka Jovic among others during the period. The Whites have not justified their spend despite topping La Liga so far where they have four wins and three draws. Los Blancos are yet to get off the mark in the Champions League where they were first humbled 3-0 by Paris Saint-Germain and only just managed to avert a crisis against Club Brugge.
Eden Hazard is yet to get a goal or assist for his new club and his fitness is visibly low. Luka Jovic has yet to have an opportunity to prove himself. There would have been plenty for the Serbia international were it not for Zidane’s poor man management. Two of the club’s biggest signings from the summer are still to make an impact and to make things worse, injuries have started to mount on the Merengues less than two months since the campaign kicked off.
While Zinedine Zidane did manage to land most of his summer’s targets, the Frenchman was unable to complete the signing of any midfielder. Real Madrid also let go of Dani Ceballos on loan to Arsenal and it is fair to say that the Spain international is excelling at the Emirates Stadium. According to Fox Sports, the 13 time European champions will be spending up to 180 million euros in the winter’s transfer window.
Florentino Perez has agreed to Zinedine Zidane’s need of a midfielder and the club will try to sign either one of Paul Pogba, Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek. The three names topped the La Liga giants’ shopping list in the summer and it looks like Real Madrid will once again head out to hunt in the winter as they hope to strengthen their squad before the business end of the 2019/20 season.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen will have just six months on his contract in January making him the logically cheapest option for Madrid. The Lilywhites aren’t doing a great job either and so, Eriksen would be more than happy to head to Spain before it is too late for him to win anything noteworthy in his career. Pogba and van de Beek are affordable too, but all signs point towards Eriksen being the prime target.
Which one of Erisken, Pogba and van de Beek would you like to see at Real Madrid?
