The former Real Madrid manager has come up with a solution (or five)…

Since leaving his vacancy at Manchester United, the Portuguese manager has become a trusted face in football punditry. However, he will always be recognised for being one of the best managers of this era.

He spent a few successful years with Real Madrid, coaching the likes of Mesut Ozil and Cristiano Ronaldo. Given his knowledge of the club, he has come up with a plan they should follow in January. Of course, he could even be granted a return to the Santiago Bernabeu if Zinedine Zidane carries on the way he is going.

According to Fox Sports, Mourinho is not a big fan of Karim Benzema. He believes the French striker is not suited to the way in which Real Madrid play anymore. That said, he has shortlisted five strikers who he would like to see replace Benzema.

The five strikers Mourinho has shortlisted are:

Harry Kane could easily grow frustrated at Tottenham. While he is dubbed as “one of their own”, a player of his quality deserves to be winning consistent silverware. He is a contender for the best striker in the world but he is consistently embarrassed by Spurs’ performances when it matters most, especially against Bayern Munich in the Champions League recently.

It’s interesting how Mourinho has labelled three of Paris Saint-Germain’s strikers. Obviously, it’s difficult to squeeze all three world-class players into one team so it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Real Madrid to pursue a move for at least one. The best option of the trio would undeniably be Kylian Mbappe, whom Real Madrid have shown an interest in previously.

Erling Haaland has shown impressive performances recently, most notably in the Champions League. Ageing at only 19 years old, the striker has scored four goals in only half of the appearances in the competition. He is one of the best young players in the world currently and, again, Mourinho is thinking efficiently for Real Madrid here.

Mourinho’s planning ahead shows that he is not one to sit around. Real Madrid need a manager with this much desire more than ever right now.

Do you think it will be Jose Mourinho who comes in to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid? If not, then who should?
