Zinedine Zidane is not resting on his laurels at Real Madrid…
Real Madrid are showing a mixture of form lately. In La Liga, they appear to be bossing things, sitting top of the table ahead of Barcelona. However, they are struggling to maintain that same momentum in the Champions League, where they sit bottom of group A.
There are question marks raised over whether or not Zinedine Zidane is the man to carry Real Madrid forward long-term. However, if he can transcend the form he is showing domestically then there’s no reason why he cannot be the man for Real.
Anyway, he has put those question marks aside and is already assessing what the best move for January will be. After close inspection, the Frenchman has decided to rival Juventus for the signing of N’Golo Kante from Chelsea. This is according to the Daily Mail, who have sourced Sport.

The French midfielder is one of the best in the world and he has shown impressive form since his return from injury. He has proven how pivotal he is to this Chelsea side and quite Frankly (if you pardon the pun), Lampard would struggle to win games without him in the midfield.
Real Madrid are obviously the lead runners in the fray for Paul Pogba, who looks to be pushing for a move away from Manchester United. However, Kante could come in at a significantly lower fee. If the report is to be believed, then Los Blancos would only pay around £70m for Kante.
Obviously, Kante and Pogba are different players. Where Kante is more defensively competent, Pogba prefers to play on the front foot. This is why the signing of Kante would make sense, since Real Madrid could do with strengthening the defensive side of their midfield. Zidane’s men have shipped four goals in their last two games against Granada and Club Brugge.
Kante’s stock-in-trade is winning back possession amid the threat of a counter-attack. He is very clever at getting in the right places at the right time to intercept the oppositions’ play.
Do you think N’Golo Kante is the right man for Real Madrid?
