Paul Pogba isn’t the only midfielder for Manchester United to worry about
By Kian Long
Paul Pogba could be setting a trend at Manchester United…
Three things seem inevitable in this lifetime. Death, taxes and Paul Pogba leaving Manchester United in the January transfer window. Well, that last one isn’t exactly “inevitable” but it’s pretty close to the definition.
The Frenchman has fallen out of love with the club and constant abuse from the fans is not helping the case. He is the best player available to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer right now, providing consistent performances each week when he is fit. He is simply the scapegoat at Old Trafford because of his hefty price tag when he arrived.
Anyway, it would appear that Manchester United fans shouldn’t be fearing losing only Pogba. If reports from Calciomercato are to be believed, then Juan Mata is subject to interest from AC Milan. The Italian outlet also claims that Mata would not be opposed to leaving United this January.

Mata is bound to feel a little hard done by given all the worry surrounding Pogba. He is an experienced professional who views himself as worthy of filling the void should the Frenchman be sold. However, Solskjaer and company disagree with the notion.
It’s thought that Ivan Rakitic will be brought in sooner rather later should Pogba leave for new ventures. The Croatia international would keep the United midfield hard to get into. With the likes of Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic proving great importance to United over the last few seasons, it’s been difficult for Mata to find a way into the first team.
Losing Mata wouldn’t be the end of the world for Manchester United, however, it would certainly be a blow. He is a reliable player who rarely has a bad game when he is called upon. He has flair in abundance and has a creative eye for the game so he will definitely suit the Serie A style of play.
Do you think Manchester United fans should fear losing Juan Mata or is he easily replaceable?
