This was bound to excite the Real Madrid fans…
It seems like centuries that Real Madrid have been trying to sign Paul Pogba. It seemed like they would finally push through in the summer but the Manchester United board’s stubbornness made it hard for Zinedine Zidane and company.
The French manager is a known advocate of Paul Pogba. Having watched him dominate the midfield for the national team, including when they became world champions, Zidane knows enough about his countryman to know he is the man for the Real Madrid job.
Pogba is going through a difficult time at Manchester United. We’re still early into the season but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s men sit just two points above the relegation zone. They host Liverpool this Sunday and with just one win in five league games, it doesn’t look like they’re going to get a result against the European champions. There is simply too much of a gap in class.

That said, Zidane could be taking advantage of this. According to Manchester Evening News, the French boss has spoke out about his meeting with Pogba. He claims that it was merely coincidental and they simply bumped into each other. I don’t know about you but I find this hard to believe given the situation.
Real Madrid aren’t in desperate need of a midfielder, given their depth in the position. In fact, it has been their midfield play that has secured them a place at the top of La Liga, especially with the likes of Casemiro shining. However, the opportunity to sign a wantway Paul Pogba is enough to grab any manager’s attention.
Pogba is an attack-minded midfielder who likes to play on the front foot. With the ball at his feet, he is excellent at driving forward and using his creativity to bring his teammates into the game. Since Isco’s future at Real Madrid has question marks surrounding it, Pogba could be the ideal replacement.
Do you think Zinedine Zidane had a plan up his sleeve when he met Paul Pogba or was the exchange purely coincidental?
