Manchester United vs Liverpool: Sir Alex Ferguson advises Solskjaer
By Kian Long
I mean, there are worse people to take advice from as Manchester United manager…
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is seriously struggling as Manchester United boss. His position at manager is in jeopardy and it could all come down to this one match. They go into their home fixture with Liverpool this afternoon just one point above the relegation zone and, should results not go their way, they could find themselves falling further and further adrift of the top four.
One man who learned a thing or two about hosting Liverpool is Sir Alex Ferguson. He is the most successful manager in Manchester United history and could even be regarded as the greatest manager of all time. He managed at Old Trafford for a total of 27 years, during which time he beat Liverpool 29 times.
According to reports from Manchester Evening News, Sir Alex Ferguson and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were caught in conversation ahead of the match. They were watching an U18 match with Middlesbrough at Carrington and appeared to be all smiles in the buildup to the Liverpool match.

Which words were exchanged remains to be seen but, one thing’s for sure, Solskjaer would have been open to advice from his former manager. In fact, when the two sides met last season, Solskjaer even said that he would be open to Sir Alex giving the team talk.
This fixture could very much be now or never for Solskjaer. Question marks continue to surround his future in the managerial position but a win against their arch-rivals and current best time in the world would do him the world of good.
Solskjaer knows how much this fixture means during his time as a player. The two sides have provided many classics throughout history. While the excitement isn’t quite as it used to be, as a neutral you can pretty much guarantee that it will be a nervy affair.
Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, will need no help. His side sit top of the Premier League with a 100% record. He will be confident that his men can turn over this out-of-form Manchester United side but it’s never going to be that easy.
