Arsenal mark their long-awaited return to Premier League action tonight…

Arsenal will travel to the North of England in order to face Sheffield United in the Premier League this Monday evening. It’s a game which has been heavily anticipated since it is the latest fixture after the international break. In the meantime, the Gunners have had to watch the teams around them do well so a win is essential.

Unai Emery will already have a lineup in mind. The Spanish boss is not one to leave preparation until the last minute. He will have spent the international break working out how to break down the Sheffield United defence and pick up all three points.

One man who could certainly play his part in the attack is Alexandre Lacazette. The Gunners have had to go without him for a month and while their goal-scoring ability has not been tarnished, the fans have certainly missed the Frenchman’s involvement.

More from Arsenal FC

If claims from the Daily Mail are to be believed, then Lacazette could play his part tonight. The English outlet claims that Lacazette has stepped up his fitness pursuit and is hopeful to be involved in tonight’s action after a positive training session.

Alexandre Lacazette would add a new dynamic to the attack

Lacazette is a top, top striker. In fact, he is one of the best in the Premier League. While his teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang takes all the plaudits, Lacazette’s involvement must not go overlooked.

He is a real workhorse in the final third. He likes to help his midfielders win the ball back and he is always open to receiving the ball in most positions. His linkup play is also an important asset of his and it helps the bromance with Aubameyang blossom.

Where Aubameyang likes to run into space and stretch the defenders, Lacazette is the type to find pockets in the box in order to get his shot away. He also has a tremendous touch which helps him out in tight positions.

This would give Arsenal the perfect plan B should Aubameyang’s speed not be enough, which is a rare occasion. That said, no matter Lacazette’s involvement, fans will be glad to see him fit and raring to go again.

I have not predicted Lacazette to start in this match since I believe Bukayo Saka deserves another shot. However, I would side with Unai Emery if he decided to give Lacazette his full return.
