It could finally be time for Real Madrid fans to bid their farewells…

It’s September 1st 2013 and the world unites in awe at the record-breaking transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid. The Welshman, after spending many seasons proving himself at Tottenham has been given the pedestal he needs to excel his career.

Fast forward six years down the line and that paragraph seems almost silly to read (I know, imagine writing it). The truth is, Gareth Bale lost his shine a few seasons ago and he now looks like one of the average players in Europe. The love was lost between him and Real Madrid fans as soon as Zinedine Zidane took charge at the helm.

Real Madrid have been trying to ship the Welshman off for the last few transfer windows but it has not panned out for them. The likes of Manchester United and Tottenham have shown interest but his wage demands were too high for the Premier League clubs.

More from Real Madrid

However, if rumours are to be believed, then Gareth Bale could finally be on his way out. The Guardian have reported that Real Madrid are monitoring both Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland, who would be direct replacements for the Welshman.

Both are young players with promising futures. Sancho has been tearing it up in the Bundesliga for the last few seasons, whereas Haaland has burst onto the scene recently, scoring 15 goals already this season, including four in only two Champions League appearances.

Either player would bring a new dynamic to Real Madrid which they need. They would bring excitement and enthusiasm to reach the top of their game, something which Zinedine Zidane could provide them with. They have shown that they can play at the top level so to do so at a young age would benefit all parties.

Losing Gareth Bale wouldn’t be too much of a loss for Real Madrid. He has shown okay form to start this La Liga season but it’s nowhere near the level fans would have expected of him several seasons ago.
