Juventus player ratings vs Lokomotiv Moscow: Paulo Dybala rescues Juventus from embarrassment
By John Vaccaro
CM: Sami Khedira 5/10
It’s almost impressive at this point how little it actually takes for Sami Khedira to keep a starting spot in this Juve lineup. He was once again horribly ineffective and barely involved in this match. Juventus could have used anybody else in the lineup in this match to try to inject some life in the squad in the first half. At least he was subbed off shortly after halftime because he was never going to help Juve get back into this match. Hopefully his time as a starter is coming to end.
CM: Miralem Pjanic 7/10
Miralem Pjanic wasn’t able to add to his surprising scoring run in this match, but he should have tallied an assist. He played an absolutely pristine ball over the top to Paulo Dybala, but Dybala wasn’t able to finish the chance. That pass doesn’t entirely negate the fact that Pjanic wasn’t particularly effective for most of the match and failed to create anything else, but he should at least get credit for creating what should have been the equalizer for Juve.
CM: Blaise Matuidi 6.5/10
I know that Blaise Matuidi has performed well for Juve this season, but his actual purpose in this match was always questionable. As expected, he helped Juve keep possession throughout the match, but he wasn’t able to help build the attack from there. He really just wasn’t a great fit for the flow of this match (and probably won’t be against Lecce on Saturday either), but he did everything he could in the game.
