Liverpool have finally secured their kit supplier as Nike for the 2020/21 season, adding more fuel to the fire about a spectacular transfer for Mbappe.
“The universe is big, its vast and complicated, and ridiculous. And sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles.” The doctor in Steven Moffat’s Doctor Who screenplay proclaims in response to his companion who wonders why we are here.
When one considers Kylian Mbappe signing for Liverpool, they are often faced with the same thoughts of wonder and amazement. How is signing one of the best players in world football possible considering the club had almost gone to administration nine years ago and were close to relegation?
But alas, impossible things do happen and the club finds itself on the pinnacle of world football yet again. Their recent Nike kit supplier deal is just more confirmation of Liverpool’s rising global status.

With the club’s growth, it is most probable Liverpool will be looking for a marquee signing next summer. A player who will take them to the next level, both football and marketing-wise. The choice of the Anfield faithful is glaringly obvious.
Ever since Kylian Mbappe travelled to America this summer, met up with Lebron James who holds a stake at Liverpool and declared he would choose Liverpool as his team to play with on the video game FIFA, Liverpool fans have been convinced Mbappe is destined for glory at Anfield.
While the transfer seems far-fetched, the Reds have indeed been long term admirers of the superstar. Just prior to his breakout campaign, Jurgen Klopp tried to bring the French forward to Merseyside in January 2016 whilst he was still playing in the academy of Monaco according to L’Equipe.
At the time Mbappe was not convinced by Klopp’s failure to assure regular first team action and he opted to stay with his boyhood club in search of more playing time.
In the summer of 2017, L’Equipe claims Liverpool tried to make a move once again and Mbappe was tempted by the prospect of moving to Anfield. This time the deal fell through because of FSG’s failure to sanction him as Liverpool’s highest paid player. Instead the club gave that role to current Reds favourite Mohamed Salah.
Having failed twice already in securing Mbappe’s signature perhaps in the summer of 2020 it will be third time lucky for the Reds?
It is clear Liverpool have held Mbappe in high regard even before his rise to the top, and Klopp appears to be a big admirer of the Frenchman. Mbappe’s explosive style of play would certainly suit Liverpool.
With Nike and potentially, Mbappe’s idol, Lebron James ushering him towards a move to Anfield and the prospect of playing for the current European Champions under the best manager in the world in Jurgen Klopp, surely Mbappe will consider a move.
At just 21 years of age, the Frenchman is yet to hit his prime and Liverpool would provide the perfect step-up from the French league into a more competitive competition where Mbappe will have the chance to hone his skills and develop his game even further.
Of course, the major stumbling block will be that of money, Paris Saint-German will be reluctant to let go off their most prized asset and will demand a huge fee. Mbappe’s move to Anfield will rest with Liverpool’s owners and whether they truly want the Reds to accomplish absolute footballing dominion.
But plenty of miracles have happened in the past when it came to the world of football, perhaps Mbappe to Liverpool is the next?
