Liverpool have not been the most active in previous January transfer windows under Klopp, but things might chance this time around.

Liverpool are in fine form right now and look set for an exciting season ahead. Yet Jurgen Klopp’s side face an extensive fixture period in the coming months as the Reds look to compete on all fronts. With such lofty ambitions and with the recent Nike deal which is expected to have boosted Liverpool’s transfer budget, Klopp will certainly consider bolstering their squad this January in order to accommodate for the busy schedule ahead.

Having spent minimally in the summer, there is certainly money in Liverpool’s transfer kitty and January might be the perfect time for Klopp to spend that cash on some of the players on this list.

Here are five players for Jurgen Klopp needs to consider for a January transfer and the additions required to help Liverpool secure the league title at last.

1. Takumi Minamino

Position: Winger

Club: Red Bull Salzburg

The Japanese winger has been in fine form for Red Bull Salzburg. The Austrian outfit are playing some of the most exciting football in Europe right now with their persistent pressing and free-flowing attacking style under new manager Jesse March.

Minamino impressed at Anfield earlier this season in Red Bull Salzburg’s 4-3 defeat. He struck a well-timed volley which even merited a smile of admiration from Jurgen Klopp. Minamino was a constant threat with his pace running between the lines and caused Liverpool’s defence plenty of problems. The Japanese winger assisted Haaland’s equalising goal to cap off an exceptional night for the winger.

Minamino’s performance earned him rave reviews from the Anfield audience with many Liverpool fans urging Klopp to sign the winger on social media and on fan blogs after the game.

With the recent Nike kit supplier deal, Liverpool’s approach for Minamino would also make sense in marketing terms as he could be the club’s new face in the Asian market to boost kit sales and help Liverpool expand their brand.

Minamino’s pace and style of play would certainly suit the Reds and coming from a similar high pressing team he would have no problem fitting into Jurgen Klopp’s extensive regimen.
