The Egyptian winger has been irreplaceable at Liverpool in the past two years, but it seems the Reds have finally found an adequate back-up.

Ever since Mohamed Salah’s arrival in the summer of 2017, the Egyptian winger has been an inseparable part of Liverpool. His absence often leaves a lingering presence on the pitch and Liverpool never look quite as good when Salah isn’t playing.

Jurgen Klopp has struggled to find suitable replacements in his absence in the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Oxlade Chamberlain and whilst the pair have played well for the Reds, it has never been when playing in Salah’s role on the right wing.

Without Salah, Liverpool’s right flank often looks disjointed and the Reds don’t seem to offer the same sort of attacking threat as they do with Salah on the pitch.

The problem has been glaringly obvious but it seems Jurgen Klopp may have at last found a solution in the young Spanish winger Ferran Torres.

The name Torres will excite most Liverpool fans who remember the promising days of Fernando Torres, and Ferran, his namesake, is showing similar signs of potential playing for Valencia in Spain.

Ferran Torres has already made over 50 senior appearances for Valencia’s first team despite being just 19 years of age and has even made 4 appearances for Spain’s U21 team who are currently European Champions. At such a young age Torres has vast experience and the talent to go with it too.

Torres’ exquisite pace, and direct style of play as well as his ability to cut in when needed resembles an early day raw Mohamed Salah from the Egyptian’s days in Switzerland in Basel.

And according to SportsBild via the Metro Jurgen Klopp has now joined the race for the Spaniard’s services. The Reds will have to fight off competition from Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund but as the current Champions League holders and with the opportunity to win the Premier League trophy Torres would surely not hesitate when deciding which club to join.

Under Jurgen Klopp, Torres could be shaped into the perfect back-up for Mohamed Salah thanks to the Spanish winger’s similar playing style. With time, Torres could easily fill the void felt in Salah’s absence and at just 19 years of age, he seems like the perfect addition for the Reds in order to solve their lack of right wing options once and for all with plenty of time to hone the role and make it his own.

What do you think, could Ferran Torres end up signing for Liverpool?
