Barcelona have long set their sights on the Premier League ace from his time in France and Germany and it seems they will finally make a move.

In Catalonia, and under the shadows of the Nou Camp, there is a lingering absence made glaringly obvious. That absence is the mercurial fire power which was once provided by the likes of David Villa, Samuel Eto’o or more recently Luis Suarez. But whilst the former two have departed the Catalans, the latter has languished and is no longer as prolific as he was in his prime.

Barcelona now need a new star and a new player to form a lethal partnership with club legend and icon Lionel Messi.

Griezmann was seen as the addition to provide the firepower which the Catalans sought but thus far he has failed to deliver and the French international is seen as more of a wide player or attacking midfielder rather than an outright forward.

From his days in Dortmund and even from his early years in Saint-Etienne, Barcelona’s boardroom have been long admirers of a certain Gabon international in the name of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

And it seems according to El Chiringuito via Four Four Two that Barcelona are looking to revive their interest in the Arsenal forward.

With the Gunners disappointing form under Unai Emery and Arsenal’s inability to qualify for the Champions League year and year out, the lure of the Catalans might be too hard for Aubameyang to ignore.

At 30 years of age, Aubameyang is approaching the final few years of his prime and Arsenal’s run of form will be a concern for the Gabon international who will want to compete among Europe’s elite.

Barcelona provide the perfect solution for Aubameyang with the opportunity to play amongst Europe’s best in the Champions League and to link up with some of the World’s finest footballers in Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.

Aubameyang could help catapult the Catalans into the formidable side they once were and a front three of Aubameyang, Messi and Griezmann could potentially rival that of the astonishing trio that Suarez, Neymar and Messi once formed in a few captivating seasons.

The Gabon international is one of the most fearsome strikers in world football and he would have no problem settling in at the Catalan club, he will be hoping to emulate the achievements of Thierry Henry who made a similar move from the London club to Barcelona and lifted the Champions League title.
