CAM: Federico Bernardeschi 5.5/10

I didn’t understand the decision to start Federico Bernardeschi in this match at all. Even if Juve didn’t want to start Aaron Ramsey after he played in the mid-week match, Douglas Costa should be an option by now. Bernardeschi continued to play poorly and it really makes me question what his role on this team is going to be once the team is fully healthy. I thought Bernardeschi would be able to make an impact for Juve this season, but he has just not been all that good. Hopefully Costa will be able to take this spot over after the international break because Bernardeschi just isn’t getting the job done.

ST: Cristiano Ronaldo 5.5/10

There is no getting around the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo just hasn’t been in good form at all lately. He hasn’t scored from the run of play in his last 5 appearances and the one penalty he scored was really a gift from Genoa. In this match, he was pretty much a non-factor for the entirety of his time on the field. Hopefully this is just a fatigue issue that can be fixed by him resting during the international break (Portugal really shouldn’t need him to beat Lithuania or Luxembourg) and coming back fresh in a couple of weeks. This was the second match in arrow that he has been subbed off early and Juve really hasn’t missed him when he’s left. Hopefully he can come back strong after the international break because the schedule is about to get a lot tougher.

ST: Gonzalo Higuain 8/10

Gonzalo Higuain has been the unsung hero of Juve’s recent winning streak. He hasn’t been the player who has scored the huge goals late in matches, but he has actually assisted the winning goal in each of Juve’s last 3 matches. Even before he assisted Dybala’s winner against Milan, Higuain was playing well. He repeatedly beat Milan’s defense with runs, even though Juve wasn’t able to provide him the service he needed for most of the match. I have been extremely impressed with Higuain and every match he makes me happier that Juve didn’t waste money on a big name over the summer when they already had capable strikers in their squad.
