Manchester United currently sit one point off a European spot and will look to bolster their squad during the January transfer window. The Red Devils have been scouting La Liga’s Valencia and are keen on three players who may come over to the Premier League in January.

Manchester United have found a bit of form the last month or so and now sit just one point out of a European competition spot. Since October 24th, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad has five wins and one loss, have officially qualified for the Europa League knockout stage and look primed to make a run once they get healthy. Looking to make a run in the second half of the Premier League season, Manchester United has been scouting hard and have narrowed in on three young Spanish stars who currently play for Valencia.

The main piece of the Manchester United wish list is 24-year-old left back Jose Gaya who has a transfer value in the 100 million euros range and has already appeared in over 200 games for Valencia since graduating from their academy. Manchester United have been starting 19-year-old Brandon Williams and 34-year-old Ashley Young at left back this season as they await the return of Luke Shaw who has been out all season with a hamstring injury. Shaw, a 24-year-old England international, has not appeared in a game since August 24th and has been injury prone since arriving at Old Trafford. Jose Gaya has been dealing with a hamstring injury of his own, but has been back since mid-October and helped man a back line that has conceded six goals in his five games since coming back from injury.

United are looking to poach Gaya from the back line and also have their eyes on 22-year-old midfielder Carlos Soler. According to Transfermarkt, the Spanish midfielder is valued around 57 million euros even with missing most of the season. Soler suffered an ankle injury earlier this year, but returned to play four games before going out again with another muscle injury. Last season, Soler appeared in 43 games for Valencia and scored four goals while contributing 10 assists. Soler would not start on the United squad, but would add much-needed depth for the Red Devils.

Finally, Manchester United are looked at 19-year-old winger Ferran Torres who has played in 12 of Valencia’s 13 La Liga games, and in two of four Champions League games, having contributed two goals and one assist so far. United have been starting Daniel James at right wing and the Welsh international has cooled down after his red-hot start to the season. James has not scored in the Premier League since August 31st and he recently was on the bench for the Red Devils in their mid-week Europa League game. James, rising youngster Mason Greenwood and Ferran Torres would give the Red Devils excellent, young, depth at the winger position and could be exactly what the club need to make a Europa League run.

With how the Premier League table currently stands, Manchester United are only going to make the Champions League in 2020 by winning the Europa League. Signing these three young, exciting, Spanish internationals would give United the depth they need to make a deep run in the Europa League.
