Guardiola transformed this Manchester City side but they have been suffering this season and are behind Liverpool in the league. Guardiola’s Man City contract expires in 2021 and German champions Bayern Munich hope they can be successful in persuading the Spanish mastermind to return to the Bavarians.

As per SportBild, Guardiola has maintained contact with the officials at Bayern Munich and has even paid visits to the clubs training base in the past month. Pep Guardiola reportedly also still owns a flat in Munich and his family were more comfortable in Munich than they were in Manchester, prompting Guardiola’s wife to shift back to Spain. Bayern believe they can use this to their advantage and try and convince Guardiola to return to Munich.

The Spanish boss is currently in his fourth year in England, breaking his three year rule in order to challenge for the Champions League. Guardiola considered staying for the fourth year at Barca to be a mistake and opted to leave Bayern after 3 seasons causing the Bayern Munich officials to believe that he is unhappy, as reported by Daily Mail. SportBild report that while leaving Bayern, Pep had said that he would come back to Germany as a coach someday and the Bayern officials are working towards making that statement true.

Bayern Munich have already rejected Arsene Wenger as their manager despite the Frenchman displaying interest in taking charge of the Bavarian club, per The Sun. This implies that Pep would be the first priority for the Bayern Munich officials prompting them to consider keeping caretaker manager Hansi Flick at the helm of the club till next summer with the 48-year-old Spaniard potentially taking charge in the summer.

Will Bayern Munich be successful in convincing Pep Guardiola to return to the Bundesliga?
