Manchester United prepared to bring back former player for £70 million
Manchester United are lining up a bid of £70 million to bring Wilfried Zaha back to the Old Trafford…
Manchester United have been known for getting their transfers wrong for the past two to three seasons. However, current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer policy seems to have worked as the new signings have been performing really well. The Red Devils still lack that flare they had back then when Sir Alex Ferguson was at the helm of the club and it looks like the board is now inclined to re-sign a former player, who also happens to be the legendary Scots last signing.

The Manchester United board has turned to Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, considering him to be a solution to few of their problems, as reported by The Sun. Zaha’s time at United was ‘hell’ as described by the player himself. As reported by Express, Zaha had the following to say on his time at United:
"“There were rumours that the reason I wasn’t playing for United was because I slept with David Moyes’s daughter, and no one attempted to clear that up. I was dealing with this at 19; living in Manchester by myself, nowhere near anyone else, because the club had a hold over where I lived. They hadn’t given me a car, like every other player. Nothing. I’m living in this hell by myself, away from my family, and I thought: ‘If this doesn’t make me stronger, what will?’”"
Since then, the Ivorian has gone on to become one of the most sought after players in the Premier League. United’s board is of the impression that the 27 year old forward is more mature now and that he’d have a successful second stint at the Old Trafford subsequently convincing them to pay the high fee that Palace are demanding for Zaha.
Wilfried Zaha had made his desire to leave Crystal Palace known in the summer by handing in a transfer request and preferred a switch to Arsenal but Palace’s high asking price for the forward and Arsenal’s signing of Nicolas Pepe from Lille prevented the move from going through. Crystal Palace also did not have any monetary requirements which could have prompted them to lower their asking price owing to the sale of right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a potential sum of £50 million.
Zaha would be just what United need right now, creativity. The 13 times Premier League champions lack pace and creativity and Zaha brings with him just that. Having played under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Cardiff, the Norwegian could get the best out of him and aim for at least a top four finish. Despite Manchester United’s willingness to shell out close to £70 million for Zaha, given his history with the club, the Red Devils may find it a little difficult to convince the Ivory Coast forward to join the club.
Will Manchester United be successful in signing Zaha in the next transfer window?
