Having beaten their main rivals in the Premier League, Liverpool are tipped to make an ambitious move for one of Manchester City’s star players.
When Michael Oliver blew the final whistle a chorus of euphoria erupted at Anfield on 10th November as the Reds secured a famous 3-1 victory over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The victory signalled the first vestiges of a potential power shift in the Premier League. Liverpool dominated the game throughout the match and Manchester City looked out of depth. There is still a long way to go in the season, but Liverpool currently look like the far more superior side.
There is no player in world football right now who would not like to play for current the manager of the year Jurgen Klopp and his fabulous Liverpool side. Even players in Manchester City’s own side must look to the Reds with some envy.
And at the final whistle inside the tunnels at Anfield there was one Manchester City player who looked particular cozy with the Liverpool squad after City’s defeat. That man was the Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne who was seen being involved in a lengthy conversation with Jurgen Klopp and the Reds’ favourite Mohamed Salah outside the Anfield changing rooms. One can only speculate what the three men talked about but as the Daily Mail reports the video of the conversation set social media alight with many convinced De Bruyne is leaning towards a move to Merseyside.
Bizarrely this was not the first time De Bruyne cozied up to the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp during the week. In an interview with Manchester City’s official Youtube channel De Bruyne mentioned his ‘good relationship with Klopp’ and talked about how the German wanted him when he was at Dortmund as well as admitting he ‘admired’ Klopp.
Of course these comments do not mean De Bruyne is bound for a move to Liverpool. But being a boyhood Liverpool fan and a clear admirer of Klopp and with City out of form and Guardiola not looking to stay long-term with the Manchester side, perhaps the Belgian’s move to the Reds may not be so far-fetched.
Klopp has long sought to add creative flair into his midfield since the departure of Philippe Coutinho and De Bruyne would be the perfect candidate.
What do you think could Liverpool make an ambitious offer for De Bruyne with the Belgian such a clear admirer of the Reds?
