With the Copa Libertadores coming to an end, Flamengo and River Plate will battle it out in Lima, Peru, to see who the biggest club in South America is in the tournament’s 60th final.
Flamengo is looking to win their second Copa Libertadores, while River Plate is looking to clinch their fifth championship. Both teams have done more than enough to be well deserving of winning the 2019 Copa Libertadores.
This game will mark the fifteenth final between Brazilians and Argentinian teams, the Argentines, have won nine games out of those games. There’s a clear dominance against the Brazilian rivals, Flamengo against Argentine teams in the past three years have seen them win only one game in six occasions they faced. On the other side, River Plate against Brazilian teams, they have won three times out of 12 matches, but only have lost three games.
The last time these two teams met in the Libertadores was in last year’s edition of the tournament when they ended in two draws in the group stage. A scoreless draw in Argentina, and a 2-2 draw in Brazil. This game will be an exciting match to watch as both teams have done more than enough hard work to be well-deserved contestants of this beloved trophy.

The primary responsibility for Flamengo will fall under Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa, and Bruno Henrique to come out and score goals while on the River Plate side, that responsibility will fall on Lucas Pratto to do the same thing. Both defenses in the Libertadores have been doing a splendid job. Both sides have conceded less than ten goals each in 12 disputed matches in this tournament.
Flamengo’s attack seems more promising for the Brazilian fans because, in this tournament in the 12 disputed games, they’ve managed to find the back of the net 22 times compared to River’s 15 goal tally. This game as a fan you should expect to see goals, possibly more than two, but from who? That is the question the players will answer on the pitch.
The match will take place on Saturday, November 23rd, in the Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru. Millions of fans around the globe are eager for this game to take place. It will be a match that will decide a few things for both teams.
Flamengo will either end their Libertadores drought and keep waiting, or will River’s Libertadores reign come to an end or increase their reign and come closer to being the top club with most Libertadores championships. Whatever happens this weekend, it’ll be a game that won’t disappoint.
