Juventus player ratings vs Atalanta: Gonzalo Higuain keeps Juve atop Serie A
By John Vaccaro
Aaron Ramsey 6/10
I don’t understand why Aaron Ramsey still isn’t being used in the starting lineup, but the fact that he wasn’t able to do much as a sub probably won’t change Sarri’s mind on this decision. Hopefully he gets a chance to influence Tuesday’s match from the start.
Douglas Costa 6/10
Douglas Costa is another player I was surprised not to see in the starting lineup for this match. He’s been back from his injury for nearly a month and has shown that he can be a difference maker in this role. Like Ramsey, Costa didn’t have much of an impact as a sub in this match, but he needs to be in the starting lineup on Tuesday.

Emre Can 6/10
Emre Can was probably the most impactful substitution of the match. This isn’t because of anything in particular that he did, but because his introduction removed Sami Khedira from the match. Can might not have done much in this match, but he was at least much better than Khedira. At least that’s something.
Manager: Maurizio Sarri 3/10
I’m not going to say that I think Juventus needs to move on from Maurizio Sarri after this season because that would be ridiculous, but I’m starting to understand where those “Sarri out” people were coming from last year. This first few months of the season has been incredibly frustrating as Juve has shown absolutely no improvement from last year or from day 1 of this season.
I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week and I still have to talk about how ridiculous it is for a club of Juve’s caliber to be starting Sami Khedira. He’s awful. He shouldn’t even be a member of the squad anymore. He needs to be gone in January.
Then there’s the matter of starting Federico Bernardeschi over Douglas Costa. I just don’t get it. Maurizio Sarri has been lauded as this attacking genius for years now, but can’t figure out that Douglas Costa makes his attack more dangerous.
If he finds a way to keep both Ramsey and Costa on the bench on Tuesday even with Bernardeschi injured, it might be time for somebody in the organization to let him know he’s delusional. Sarri needs to start making changes soon because this version of Juve isn’t making it past the quarterfinals in the Champions League this year and that’s just not good enough.
