The Barcelona coach seems to be looking at a couple of Bundesliga stars to solve the Catalan’s underlying issues this season.

Ernesto Valverde has not endured the smoothest ride as Barcelona coach since his arrival at the Catalans. Despite success in LA Liga, there seems to be a general consensus that the Spanish coach has failed to get the best out of his players and produce a style of football that is befitting of the club’s stature.

Especially defensively the club has endured some appalling results such as heavy defeats against Liverpool and Roma and never looked quite as strong as they did in their prime era. Often times there is a lack of cohesiveness in the defence and the Catalan back line can easily be split apart and exposed.

Valverde however now seems to have identified a potential solution to some of the issues surfacing at the club. According to AS Barcelona are looking at signing either one of two Bundesliga stars to solve their lack of solidity at right back.

Valverde’s two options according to AS are RB Leipzig’s Lukas Klostermann and Joshua Kimmich. AS believe that Kimmich is the Catalan’s first choice and Klostermann is being lined up as his alternative.

Under Valverde, the Catalans struggled with finding a solid right back choice, neither Nelson Semedo or Sergi Roberto have played in the role with great success and it is clear why Barcelona are keen on signing a solid defender in that position.

Both Klostermann and Kimmich are ideal candidates. Kimmich is undoubtedly one of the best right backs in the world right now and has been excelling at Bayern and for Germany at international level for the past couple of seasons.

With Barcelona loanee Philippe Coutinho currently at the German club, perhaps the Catalans could even arrange a potential swap deal or cash plus player agreement for the services of Kimmich in order to convince Bayern to let go of their prized asset.

Klostermann is just as capable as Kimmich, though the RB Leipzig man isn’t as impressive going forward and while he might be the cheaper option, Valverde should go all out for Kimmich who has the potential to take the Catalan’s game to the next level.
