It’s a case of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ for Arsenal…

It’s been a long time coming but Arsenal could finally be getting rid of Unai Emery. The Spanish boss has not been successful in improving on the form shown by Arsene Wenger towards the end of his reign as boss. The Gunners now sit in 8th of the Premier League, without a win in their last five league games.

There is a growing sense of uncomfort at Arsenal. They are simply not the club they once were and Emery hasn’t delivered the promise he made when he was appointed by Ivan Gazidis in the summer of 2018.

According to a source at Goal, there is a consensus around the Emirates Stadium that Unai Emery will be fired in due course. However, he is still expected to manage Arsenal’s match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Unai Emery will go down as a failure in the Arsenal record books. Having only managed for one full season, he finished outside of the top four and went without silverware. He has now put the club in a terrible position but it’s one which can be fixed providing the right appointment.

There are calls from the fans to appoint Freddie Ljungberg following his fine work with the youth team and legendary status within the fanbase. However, as we are all aware, the Arsenal board aren’t the type to listen to what the fans want.

The Daily Mail have reported Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo is the leading candidate to replace Emery in North London. He has done a phenomenal job with Wolves this season so you can understand the hierarchy’s desire to lure him to London.

Only time will tell who will be brought in to try and salvage something of Arsenal’s season. We all have our own opinions and that’s bound to be the case given the limitations of the market right now. However, one thing nobody can deny is that the Gunners deserve better than what Emery is offering. He tried and he failed. Let’s just hope he goes out on a positive note against Frankfurt.
