Barcelona: Five players who could replace Lionel Messi
By Bence Bocsak
3. Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian established himself as one of the finest footballers in world football following his surprise move from Roma to Liverpool. Upon his return to the Premier League Salah found an incredible run of form under Jurgen Klopp’s side and he finished his first season with the club with an incredible 31 goals in the league. That sort of form is certainly reminiscent of Lionel Messi at Barcelona and Salah has continued to impress helping Liverpool lift the Champions League title last season.
Salah is a tricky player who can play both upfront, behind the striker and on either flank. In terms of playing style perhaps the Egyptian resembles Barcelona’s Lionel Messi the most on this list with his quick feet and rapid change of pace. Salah is unselfish too much like Messi and he can bring his teammates into play with ease.
The Egyptian’s rapid pace is probably superior to that of the Argentinian as well and at 27 years of age Salah will still have a few of his prime years left is he is to make the move to the Nou Camp.
Of course acquiring his services will not be cheap. Liverpool are undoubtedly one of the hottest teams in the world right now and very few players would want to leave a club in such fine form. The Reds would be reluctant to let go of their key players as well and would demand a hefty fee.
Though for Salah even such a steep price would make it worthwhile for the Catalans. The Egyptian has everything you need for a Barcelona player and he could take the club to the next level following Lionel Messi’s departure.
